York Mills Public School was a two room schoolhouse built in 1925. It was known for many years as Baron Renfrew School, in honour of the then Prince of Wales who used that title while visiting the region. As the school area developed, a new wing was added in 1956. This park was developed by the York Mills community in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of the school. 1925-1975.

The other plaque, erected in 2004 by the York Mills Valley Association, has this to say:
York Mills Public School was an important part of the Hogg's Hollow community for over 75 years. Standing at the corner of Campbell Crescent and York Mills Road, generations of children were educated and nurtured within its walls. This monument was constructed with bricks from the original building (demolished in 2004) and displays the pediment and crest from the front entrance. This provides a fitting landmark at one of the principal entrances to York Mills Valley.

I went to Baron Renfrew from grade 1 to 3 (1948 to 1951). I have wonderful memories of a different time.
