Near the western end of Manorpark Crescent, on the north side, is a cairn on which are attached these two related 1937 plaques. Here's what the first one says:

He fought in the War of 1812 and later returned to Ireland to induce further emigration. While returning was drowned in the wreck of the Lady of the Lake in the Straits of Belle Isle in 1833.

Here's what the other one says:
The following are the eight branches of the Henry Mulholland Family mentioned on the reverse side of the cairn.

My g.g. grandparents were on this ship when it sank. They were James and Jane Simons and several of their children, all of whom perished. They were from Co. Cavan, Ireland. They brought with them on the journey a hired hand named George Monaghan. He was rescued and returned to Ireland to tell the tale of the wreck and the shameful behaviour of her Captain. I would be very interested to hear from anyone else who had ancestors on "The Lady of the Lake" which sank in 1833.

Can anyone tell me how the Allens (Frank, Stewart, Eric and Ian) are related to the Mulholland family.

Would anyone happen to know who were Henry Mulholland's parents or where he was married? I'm planning a trip to Ireland and would like any information pertaining to his origins for abroad.
