Castle Frank

On this rock cairn on the south side of Bloor Street East, just west of the viaduct, is a 1954 Don Valley Conservation Authority plaque which says:

Coordinates: 43.674476 -79.366779

The country home of Lieutenant Colonel John Graves Simcoe first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada 1791-1796, stood on these heights just south of this site 1794-1829. Named after Francis Gwillim Simcoe, son of Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Simcoe, who died in the year 1812, serving under the Duke of Wellington.

The text above says this plaque is on the north side of Bloor St. This is incorrect; the plaque is on the *south* side of Bloor St. This can be seen in the map above, as well. [Editor's Response: Thanks. I've now corrected my error.]

Having visited Toronto for many years for the Toronto International Film Festival, We have often wondered where the "castle" of the Castle Frank Subway station was. Thank you for this information.
