The Baby Point Gates Parkette 1911-2011

On the west side of Jane Street across from Annette Street can be found these gates. Here's what the plaque says:

This parkette was funded and built by the Baby Point Gates Business Improvement Area in partnership with the City of Toronto and the generous support of the Baby Point community. It celebrates both the centenary anniversary of the Baby Point Gates, erected in 1911 by architect Robert Home Smith and the formation of the Baby Point Gates Business Improvement Area in 2011.

The Baby Point Gates Parkette is the first official parkette in Ward 13 funded by a BIA. Also included in the parkette was a newly commissioned sign for the Humbercrest United Church. Another Robert Home Smith project, the Humbercrest United Church was built in 1912 on Baby Point Road, a year after the the Baby Point Gates were erected. The Humbercrest United Church community celebrated their 100th anniversary last year with numerous celebratory events and concerts.
